The US bans Air India aircraft engaged in Vande Bharat mission

The Ministry of Civil Aviation also said that it is making bilateral arrangements with countries to bring back Indians from different parts of the world.

The ministry said in a statement, “As soon as we control the situation of bringing Indian and foreign nationals trapped abroad, we are now looking at the possibility of establishing a bilateral system.”

The ministry also said that it had received requests from countries such as the US, France and Germany to allow their airlines to operate repatriation flights like Air India.

The ministry said in its statement, ‘We have received requests from concerned authorities in several countries including the US, France, Germany, requesting others to provide their air carriers with a line operated by Air India under the Vande Bharat Mission Also be allowed to participate in the transportation of passengers.

“These requests are being investigated. We have also held a round of talks on this issue with representatives of the US Department of Transportation and the US Embassy on 15 June.

He was invited to submit an accurate proposal in this regard. A reply has also been received on June 19, 2020 detailing these requests. The ministry further said in the statement. Negotiations were going on and a decision will be taken soon.

The US has said that Air India will need to apply for authorization to its Department of Transportation before operating charter flights so that it can examine them more closely. Air India is operating flights to bring back its citizens during travel disruptions caused by the outbreak of COVID-19.
