Nepal’s Archeology Dept planning to excavate Thori to Find Real Ayodhya

The Archaeological Department of Nepal is planning to start excavation and study at Thori located in the southern part of the country. This step is being taken at a time when Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had claimed that the real birthplace of Lord Ram is Thori. However, Oli has been criticized by leaders of various parties for this remark. Oli had said that Lord Rama was born in Thori near Birganj and the real Ayodhya is in Nepal.

According to the ‘My Republica’ newspaper, the Department of Archeology (DOA) has started discussions with various ministries for possible archaeological studies in the area following Ollie’s remarks.

DOA spokesman Ram Bahadur Kunwar was quoted as saying, “The department is discussing with various ministries the possibility of starting archaeological studies at Thori of Birganj.”

DOA Director-General Damodar Gautam told that after the statement of Prime Minister Oli, the department is serious about starting archaeological studies in Thori. “The department will discuss with experts and come to some conclusion,” he said. However, ‘It is our responsibility to study after such a statement of the Prime Minister. But, I cannot say that we have sufficient grounds to prove that the real Ayodhya is in Nepal. ‘
