Ita Nagar, ANI. A joint team of Assam Rifles and Arunachal Pradesh Police killed 6 militants in an operation in Longding district in the early hours of today. In this operation, a soldier of Assam Rifles was also injured. So far 4 AK-47s and two Chinese MQs have been recovered. The operation is still going on.
Six militants along with security forces were killed in the encounter in Khonsa area of Arunachal Pradesh early Saturday. A soldier of the Assam Rifles was injured in the operation and is being sent to a military hospital.
Sources said that all the militants killed in the operation are likely to belong to Naga militant organization NSCN (IM). The encounter took place around 4:30 am. He said six weapons along with munitions have also been recovered from the area.
Arunachal Pradesh DGP RP Upadhyay said that the Army’s Assam Rifles and Arunachal Pradesh Police carried out a joint operation in Longding district on Saturday morning. In this action, 6 NSCN-IM militants were killed. They were reported to be hiding in a hideout in Naginu village of the district.
Firing in the search operation
On this information, the police and a team of Assam Rifles conducted a massive search operation in the village. Meanwhile, six militants hiding in a hut tried to escape by shooting at the soldiers. After the firing, army and police teams started a large-scale counter operation, encircling these militants in the area.
