Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has been admitted to a military hospital in Rawalpindi on Saturday (July 4). A day earlier he was found infected with the coronavirus and went into isolation himself.
Qureshi said on Friday (July 3) that he had been confirmed to be infected with the coronavirus. His name has also been included in the long list of public representatives who have been exposed to deadly infection in Pakistan.
He said in a tweet, “I have been confirmed to be infected with Covid-19. By the mercy of Allah, I feel strong and energetic. I will continue to do my work from home. Please, remember in prayers.” Quoting Geo News sources on Saturday, Qureshi has been admitted to Combined Military Hospital in Rawalpindi.
Qureshi is the senior-most minister in the Pak government infected with the Coronavirus. He is the vice-president of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and is considered the second leader in the government after Prime Minister Imran Khan. Many MPs of Pakistan have been hit by the Coronavirus and some of them have also died.
In June, Munir Khan Orakzai, a member of the National Assembly, died. He had recovered from the Coronavirus a few days before that. Eight members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly have been infected. The speaker of the National Assembly, Assad Kaiser, was also infected and later recovered.
